This course is designed specifically for students who are currently working directors or choreogrpahers who need new tools and approaches to work with performers, and for the students who are at the beginning of their careers.

This course enables you to acquire an informed understanding of how professional actors are trained, how to develop the method of actors’ training in the rehearsal process, or in daily training under a director’s guidance and lead them from exercises to the elements of a performance. Students will be acquainted with methods of actors’ training and rehearsing formed on the base of Russian Theatre Tradition, including Physical Action of Stanislavsky, Psychological Gesture of M. Chekhov, and Meyerhold's Biomechanics. 

The core of this course is the investigation of the relationship between the theatre director and the performer; the development of this relationship to the particular results.

In the end of the course, students will be able to create their own project based on the play that they want to stage.

Objectives:

Format: Each week students receive distant tasks, assignments, cases for self-studies which gradually lead them to understanding of the topic and ability to apply knowledge to the projects.
